Maude Barlow gives 10 reasons why to oppose the SPP – The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America – a trilateral agreement between US, Canada and Mexico which was launched in 2005. Although it is a good talk, Barlow suggests that it is not necessarily trade, nor the economy that is at fault, but rather it is just this particular model of capitalism that is to blame. Barlow takes more of a reformist approach to economic globalization suggesting that if there was a model that serves people and communities then capitalism would actually work. This is most definitely a contentious point that will be raised in many other posts.
